Our Story
Hey! So just a little backstory about us behind the brand...
We are Paige and Ellie, co-owners of Groovy Paws. We met in 2022 in a different job and a month of being silent in the office, finally spoke and that was it... instantly clicked and we haven't shut up since! After weeks of spying on pomsky puppies bred by the amazing Celtic Star Kennels at work, Paige seen Chilli (our beautiful CEO), instantly fell in love and brought her home February 2023 (11 hr journey). We then realised there was a lack of funky dog designs out there when it came to harnesses and collars and then began our ramblings of what we would do and how. Until we did just this, thought f**k it lets just do it and voilà... Groovy Paws was born!
We are based in the North East (proud to be northern lasses). We both work full-time jobs alongsige Groovy Paws and love what we do - Paige (project controls engineer) and Ellie (Barista at her own family-run cafe Steam and Bean). We started the company with our CEO companions Chilli (Pomsky) and Barney (Lhasa Apso), though not long after Ellie moved into her own flat, and rescued the lovely Laia from Redcar SARA so Barney retired. Laia was a nervous girly and would often plant her feet and refuse to walk when out the house. We were slightly nervous to introduce her to Chilli as Chilli lived up to her name and was a fiery little maniac, often too much energy for other dogs. Though our worries were silly, Laia seemed to learn confidence through Chilli which was such a special thing to witness. She soon became the brave playful girl we know today.
Call Paige crazy but Chilli started to calm down slightly so she ofc started spying on Celtic Star Kennels again until she spotted Boris. Described as a 'derpy' boy by the breeder she knew he was the one. He was the most fearless puppy and instantly clicked with Chilli and Laia. To be truthful, Laia is utterly obsessed with Boris, she (quite literally) cant keep her paws off him. We are so lucky for their bond and means we get to share so many adventures together, often in the campervan and Yeti. Our current hyper-fixation being bagging wainwrights at the lake district, especially midweek to try make the most of the 5-9 and not just live for 2 days a week.
Our brand is essentially a reflection of us and what we love. We created every design ourselves with this in mind! Naming a couple Paw-Struck mirrors the love of partying, the disco balls and lightning bolts emphasising that energy! With Surf’s Pup, yeah who doesn’t love the beach but also the surfing is the main element as Chilli & Boris' dog dad has surfed his whole life and whilst you wont catch us out on the sea we’re all about being active and new adventures, especially when the pooches are involved. Our brand is all about getting outside, having a wild time and making some memories whilst slashing that price tag. We enjoy Groovy Paws and initially yeah we wanted it to take off and be our full time career, but in that time fell into jobs we love and solely want Groovy to be fun for us - show off our adventures on socials, create designs expressive of us and share those with all the gorgeous doggos of the world!
